Commanders, we hope you had a great time over the holidays! We have two upcoming playtests, a closed Backer Test and a Free Demo during Steam’s RTS Festival!
Backer Playtest: January 10 - 16
This will be a closed playtest, available to backers that supported ZeroSpace at the Solar Monarch tier or higher. This playtest will feature the latest updates, and while streaming won’t be permitted during this period, we’re looking forward to hearing your thoughts and feedback!
Free Demo: January 20 - 27
This weeklong demo will be available to everyone during Steam’s RTS Fest! We welcome streaming and sharing gameplay footage during this time!

New Legion Unit
Kraegar now has a pet! After Mondar and Torq we decided that 2 Heroes-in-one is an interesting, working concept. As expert hunters, they can clear and capture XP towers significantly faster than most other heroes, offering players a strong early game.
Kraegar's pet also has avenues to scale into later portions of the game via synergies with other legion Beasts like the Exalted Rider and an additional new beast which will be shown during this upcoming playtest!Â

For better stylization and visual clarity, we’ve updated the grass across a few maps - check out the difference on the map Tenebris!

Beta Playtest Now Live!
All backers from the Solar Monarch tier and up now have access to the game until November 24th, with streaming and sharing content allowed.
Don't have access, or want to show the game to a friend? Our Demo Weekend starts on the 22nd, and it will be open to everyone for free!

Updates since the last Playtest
There's too many changes to go through them all, but we've made a list of the most notable.
Galactic War
Our first iteration of Galactic War is here! The feature is still early in development but we already have 3 playable missions!Â
Join a faction, play alone or with a friend to complete missions, leveling up your commander and conquering planets
New Units
Joining our roster are the Protectorate's Predator and the Legion's Radiant.
Predator: A Tier 2 mobile vehicle meant to increase the Protectorate's ability to content objectives out on the map
Radiant: A long range unit that gains attack damage for each consecutive hit on the same target, when upgraded it also gains attack speed from friendly thralls dying near it, making it the ultimate tank killer.
FFA
4 players can now battle for dominance in our new Free For All mode!
AI opponents spawn between each player on Total Annihilation, an FFA map where holding the central towers and rich flux are the key to victory.
Mercenary Updates
Cha'Kru Mercenary Taverns
We've made significant progress on the mercenary revamp we unveiled in our last update, with each merc faction now having their own buildable tavern, top bar abilities, and powerful talents.
Talent System and Upgrade Revisions
The Talent system has been revised to be leaner, with 2 choices per level instead of 3, with each choice now more coherently themed, and impactful.
Upgrades have also been updated to provide more interesting choices, with many upgrades being added, removed, and redesigned.
Map Updates
Total Annihilation (FFA)
In addition to Total Annihilation, we have 2 new 1v1 maps available for testing in custom games, Canyon and Uphill.
We've also continued working on and polishing existing maps, and upcoming maps.
Under Fire (Co-op Mission Map)
Bravery (Unreleased 2v2 Map)
Balance Update
Balance has been updated across the board to encourage more play styles and player expression with nearly every unit being adjusted in some way.
Global Build Button
We believe this streamlined building experience will allow for easier onboarding of non RTS players.
This change mainly applies to Protectorate and Legion who now build using drones from their operating towers. No more managing builders, just press B and then place the building you'd like.
New UI
New Home Page
We've updated the UI both in and out of game to give the game a more modern, sleek feeling.

We have updated models for Flux Crystals, Flux Meteors, Ironwing (formerly Gunship), Titan (Formerly Atlas), and Bastion, and more on the way!

ZeroSpace Development Updates and Upcoming Playtest Dates!

Hello everyone!
We want to start off by giving you a timeline update. As you may know, we are a relatively small team with big aspirations, and we want to be transparent about where we stand with our upcoming release. It’s been a challenge to secure a publisher in the current industry climate, and we believe our timeline has been impacted to the point where it's unlikely we’re able to get ZeroSpace to the level of polish we’d like by May. We haven't made any final decisions yet, but we are considering Early Access and/or postponing the full release. We understand this wouldn't be ideal but believe it could ensure that ZeroSpace lives up to both our standards and your expectations.
That said, many publishers are interested in our project, and we're continuing to seek out the best partnership for the game. We will keep you updated on our progress and timeline and let you know if we have any news in terms of a final decision and/or a publisher deal.  In the meantime, it’s still full steam ahead for our team. Since our last check-in, we’ve been working on tons of new features, from unit remodels to new environments and character refinements. Let us know what you think! Â
So what’s new in ZeroSpace?
New Map Tileset
We're working on a detailed environmental tileset for urban Protectorate areas, focusing on an upper-class, Administrative District aesthetic, filled with new props, models, and decorations.Â
Campaign Progress
We’ve been working on new cinematics, character details, campaign missions, and lots of world building!Â

Flux Model Updates
We're re-imagining Flux nodes, drawing inspiration from a combination of sea flora shapes and traditional crystals. While Flux is pervasive throughout the galaxy, it's usually found in small quantities... but once in a while, it may come crashing down in meteor form, bringing large, concentrated deposits!
Revamped Mercenary System
We've been refining the mercenary system to ensure each faction retains its unique identity and playstyle without overshadowing the core factions. To support this vision, every Mercenary Group will now have a buildable, faction-specific Tavern, allowing players to explore not only Mercenary units but also new upgrades and mechanics that emphasize their unique identities and gameplay avenues. We've also introduced a powerful, often modifiable, top-bar ability for each mercenary faction and reduced the number of units for each faction by one to better focus on their unique roles and abilities.
We're also experimenting with a new charge system. Rather than all merc units costing a single charge, each will now require a specific number of charges in addition to resources. We believe this change will allow for more interesting unit designs and add an extra layer of strategy.
These updates won’t be quite ready for the next playtest. However, we’re excited about how the mercenary taverns are shaping up and couldn’t wait to share them with you!

Upcoming Playtesting Dates
Mark your calendars! We have three playtesting phases coming up, and we can't wait to get you back into the game.
1. Alpha Test: November 1-8 This will be a closed alpha test. We are trying out a lot of changes, some of them very experimental, so your feedback during this phase will be crucial as we fine-tune core gameplay mechanics.
2. First Beta Test: November 15-21 Our beta phase will allow for a more polished experience. We welcome streaming during this period to help spread the word about ZeroSpace!
3. Free Demo Weekend: November 22-24 To cap off our testing phase, we're opening the gates to everyone! This 72-hour demo will give players a taste of what ZeroSpace has to offer.
